Hi everyone. Need some help from tech-heads. I have a wm- 34 which i managed to find in a charity shop. Im sure the belts have gone. Have looked model up but cannot find any information on this model- specs' etc. Lots on wm-36 but not on the wm-34. I have the Sony 91-92 catalogue- its got the 36 but not the 34, so lm guessing it must have come out before 1991. It is one of those snap lock models(no screws as far as i can see). Any help with the opening procedure and in what order please and where i could source the belt( s). Thanks everyone.
I have done a few of these lately, not this particular model but ones that share a layout. The trick is to get a credit card, chop it up vertically into 7-8 strips and use these to pop the securing tabs. I always start near the battery compartment on the vertical edge. Run a card piece up and down the groove where the case meets till you get one in, then work your way around the case popping tabs as you go. EDIT: seems this one does have screws according to the service manual?
Hi T-ster. Thanks for prompt reply. I shall ask my brother in law to have a go for me. He replaced the belts for me in my wm-4. He builds his own radios. Where did you find the service manual? I tryed everywhere. Thanks again for your help.
Hi T-ster. Sorry i made a mistake. I have got the ex-34 not wm-34. My mistake. Can you help me out with this one? The 34 looks completely different. Thanks.
Try to open the walkman by inserting a credit car between the 2 main body parts to separate them as T-ster explained This is the link to appropriate belt: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BELT-SON...m570.l1313.TR11.TRC1.A0.H0.Xsony+wm-ex34.TRS0
Yeah the theory on this is exactly the same, it is popped open with tabs so the same instructions will work.
