A senior citizen, I know, approached me and told me that her Walkman stopped working and could I look at it for her. Servicing electronics has always been a hobby and I enjoy the challenge. I've never worked on SONY because I've always found them to be extremely reliable. I put batteries into the unit and could hear the motor spinning but the cassette showed no movement. I opened the unit carefully and found the drive belt disconnected. I've taken a guess as to how the belt should be installed; but, I'm looking for some confirmation/input. It seems to be working with the setup a created; but, I'm sure the belt is also stretched.

I do not have this model but this configuration would be my first guess.

The belt path is correct. This mechanism is used on many of the later model Sonys. They even used it one single way (no auto-reverse) walkmans by just shortening one of the capstans till it's just a stub. Kinda surprised me when I opened one, 1 capstan but 2 capstan flywheels.

Thank you very much for your confirmation. Hopefully, the diagram will provide some guidance for someone with a similar model.
