hi guys, I have this Panasonic portable unit that, is set up with the Japanese radio frequency and I would like to tune into local stations here on the west coasts, the model number is RX-DT7 if anyone knows of way to set it up? Thank you.
Not familiar with your radio, if it's a JDM only item it may not be able to be converted. I did some hunting to see if I could find a service manual for your radio as that would be the first step to seeing if it's tuner has the capability. My best guess would be if it was sold in other parts of the world then either jumpers of perhaps a key combination might 'unlock' the missing frequencies. If the former then it could be a matter of unsoldering and moving small components on the logic board which will require some deep teardown and careful soldiering. I was looking at some photos of another unit, what happens when you flip around from AM/FM/TV?
I too conducted a vast and long search for an owner manual, I only found one in Japanese and moving the switch you suggested doesn't help. Too bad for me since it does a pretty good job recordings from CD's and plays tapes great, just would have been awsome to listen to the radio too. I was really hoping for a key combo type of fix as some Walkmans allow it. Thank you for looking into it.
The specs in the Japanese Manual list an FM band from 76.0-108.0 but I didn't see where you would change it. https://translate.googleusercontent...700201&usg=ALkJrhjxVQmUOOfATgAwIrjLYF4lryNm1Q I was hunting around for a solution and found this.
I think this is the service manual, I couldn't find any way to change the settings. https://elektrotanya.com/panasonic_rx-dt75_sm.pdf/download.html
Hi, frequencies above 90 MHz were reserved for analog TV broadcasting in Japan, so you need to set your Band to "TV" in order to receive signals above 90 MHz. Unfortunately for DT7, you are limited to tune into certain pre-set TV channel frequencies, so unless your area happens to have a FM station for those pre-set frequencies, you are out of luck I am afraid. Here's a frequency chart for Japanese analog TV channels: https://translate.google.com/transl...denpa-data.com/denpadata/analog_frequency.htm
