Established German manufacturer Grundig aims to overcome Compact Cassette shortcomings with a new cassette format.

Recognising the popularity of Philips Compact Cassette but also it's shortcomings Grundig have produced a new cassette format "International DC".

Improvements over the compact cassette include
    • A slightly larger case allowing more tape inside and a faster tape speed.

Comparing a Philips Compact Cassette with the new Grundig International DC format one.
The larger case allows a higher tape speed and greater fidelity.

    • A much improved carry case design. Just slip the cassette into the fully protective plastic sleeve, and when you want to use it release it using the catch on the side. International DC cAE.JPG

Other manufacturers like Telefunken are already using the new format and several Japanese manufacturers are interested. , Major recording companies are producing International DC pre-recorded music cassettes for your listening pleasure. Grundig are producing an in car player for people who want music on the move.

Once consumers recognise the superiority of the International DC Cassette format it is expected that the compact cassette will be relegated back to it's original intended use in Dictation Machines, and music lovers worldwide will start using Grundig's superior format, designed from the start for Music Reproduction.

Yes I did see that and thought Techmoan had ruined my April Fools day joke which I had been planning since my sister uncovered the Grundig recorder in February.
Everything I wrote was true :wink2 back in about 1965 .

My late Father actually bought the recorder and tapes back in 1967. I am sure that he commented on how much cheaper it was than the Philips version. I wonder why that was :scratch2:. The Video 2000 of audio cassettes. Interestingly Grundig backed that format as well, although we didn't fall for that one.
