I think Panasonic placed 4000$ price point to redesigned legendary Technics SL-1200 turntable due to the fact that they know the sale wouldn't be crazy high number. So, people who want it will by it regardless And I am also very disappointed of seeing this high price tag, I rather buy a vintage one in gold color
I went the cheaper route. KAB web site and upgrade the one I had. I think they were trying to make a comeback in the home audio market. The amplifiers they just put out look great but $$$$. Almost McIntosh money. From what I have been old, in Japan and other countries, they are selling well just not in the USA.
