The magic of the local flea markets never ceases to amaze me. Last time, I got blue WM-DD, and now it's a blue WM-3o! Judging from a quick google search am I right to be assuming that this is one of the rarest color? There are lots of pics of the red and turquoise ones, but very few of the blue one.

It's missing the acrylic window and for some reason the Dolby and tape-type switches were pressed down and got stuck inside. Perhaps someone tried fixing this but gave upon opening it and, annoyed, half-heartedly put it back together. Overall, it's in a kinda nice condition despite rough in some spots.

The unit was totally dead. The battery contacts were corroded, but cleaning it didn't bring it back to life. I have a very minimal experience with the WM-30 family, so I was about to give up then I remembered reading about the kill-switch in the headphone jack being prone to breaking. And that was precisely the problem. The jack had become loose and somehow that has torn 2 traces in the flex connector. I soldered some jumpers and it came back to life.

I proceeded with cleaning and installing a new belt and roller but when pressing play, the forward spindle didn't turn. Turns out the units have must have been knocked about during its rough life. The chassis was bent so as to cause the gears to not mesh. A few kinda forceful pressing and bending here and there and the problem was solved.

    It's now playing fine :)

Yup! It's one of my better deals. Money very well spent.

After testing it for 2 days, it seems that there's still some adjustment to be made, though. It lets out very disturbing mechanical shrieks every once in a while...

Boodokhan has been making repro windows. I was making the windows for the WM30 ages ago but stopped. I gave him the files I had so hopefully he will be making them soon. These pics are of my own Wm30 with the repro window I made.

Very nice indeed! I have made the vector files, but am still looking for the right vendors and deciding on what technique to use. It's quite a busy month, so I think I'll wait till next month to start experimenting. Did you manage to the get the bezels rounded?

The rounded edges is tough to do but I managed to carefully sand it down with some 2000grit sandpaper and then polished it.

Ah... Good idea. I rarely work with acrylic, so this will a trial and error process for me.

I bought this guy a couple of months ago, changed the belt and it is the WM-10II model.
I wonder what the difference between this one and your is, they look very similar to me. 20190704_165321.jpg

WM-10 II and WM-30 are the same thing. Just different model names for different markets. WM-10 II is for the US & Canadian market.

The acrylic part for this model is very easy to make. Thanks to its simplicity you can make it exactly like the original
