Does anyone know anything about it? I would like some information on the item before I purchase, like is it a good idea? Please comment below your experiences with this Walkman If you have have/had one. Kind regards Mistew
Sorry, I don't have one but I'd love to see one up close, it looks like a pretty nice model. A few members have mentioned them over the years but I think it flies under the radar for most members here.
I have found one of these for sale and here is the link https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwjzqYeiueP0AhUJohQKHdeUCQMQFnoECAQQAQ&url=https://reverb.com/uk/item/27215769-sony-wm-f404-walkman-cassette-player-rare-full-set-top-shape-working-well&usg=AOvVaw06WTFAeo0KIaziBa-EiLy8 I have never used this site to buy any item but I thought you might want to see the unit boxed and the asking price. As you will see the item has now been sold
never had one of those in all the years it looks a lot like a WM-F200MkIII recording-Walkman I have, so it's from the WM-100 family (?) if yes, it should be a good model (depending on condition)
F-404 is a simple compact walkman. There is nothing unique about this walkman, Sony made a lot of models similar to F-404 (compact and slim walkman with radio, like F100&F102, F202&203,F501, f10&20 ....). They all look good (like most of Sony products). But as I said there is nothing special about these walkman units.
Okay! Do you know any similar, high-end product that goes for a lower price, this one seems to be quite expensive.
At this time a high end walkman price is much higher than your price range. But you can find a good sounding walkman around $100. There is a F404 on auction that most probably you can get it below your budget price. https://buyee.jp/item/yahoo/auction/x1027158400?conversionType=service_page_search a better option is to get a Sony Ex series. something like EX670 or Ex615 The best option is wait and save money to get a really good sounding walkman like Sony DD33
For 70 Euro I would easily buy a Sony WM EX/FX 811, which in my opinion is quite good, easy to belt replace and clean, and most of them just needs a belt (if you are going to buy from Marian make sure you are choosing exactly EX or FX belt as I had problems with FX running on EX belt), a bit of run time and they will be fine. I can't say about running time on batteries, but it's long enough to not bother me.
