Hi folks, I was watching Thank God It's Friday, 1978 movie feeding off the disco craze (and with a weird early performance by Jeff Goldblum basically making an impersonation of Travolta's Tony Manero...) And there's a scene with this funny little white portable radio (almost looks like it was designed to pass as a handbag). Photos were too pixellated so I posted it on YouTube, Thank God It's Friday — Portable Radio — YouTube Clip Getting quite curious and wondering if anyone knows what it might be? Thanks in advance for your help. Best, Orlac
Great Movie, there were so many of those non-story classics that over embellished the era taking place in car washes, record stores, parking lots, etc. Sorry I can't help with the radio but that's definately Terri Nunn from the band Berlin holding it, talk about a women that looks like she's never aged. I've watched this movie several times but I guess I never paid too enough attention.
Amazing. Such an intriguing object! Thank you SO much for your time and expertise. I've just joined but what a fantastic community.
Panasonic had a large range of fun models in the early 1970s, like the "Plunger" 8 track player https://www.psaudio.com/blogs/copper/eight-tracks-taking-the-plunge
