    Make sure you get a list of what they're going to do and the time frame. For that price I'd assume new caps and belts? If you're not familar with R2R, sticky tape and tape shred are two nasty things to look for. Sticky tape is when the old tape turns into a nasty goop that is very similar to tar, touch the sides to make sure it isn't tacky. Tape shred is not as bad, the tape media comes off in small black chunks, luckily it doesn't stick as bad but it will mess up the sonics if it gets on the heads. Those tapes look old, if the machine starts slowing down stop it and check.

    If you think sticky tapes is a problem do a search on "Tape Baking". Not someting I have tried myself but done by recording studios etc when they run into the problem.

    I toss any I have, it's usually from a box that came with the machine and definately not worth hours of cleaning.

    Possibly the most popular calculator of the late 1970s. Half the class at college had one of those in 1979.
    I jumped from

    to
    https://casio.ledudu.com/pockets.asp?type=1022&lg=eng
    which cost me over a weeks wages back in 1978.
    I still have both, although the Prinztronic is quite worn out.
    When new it came in a large plush lined presentation box laid out with calculator, instructions, case, and maybe batteries.

    p.s. from that era did you key in 6x9=?

    i wouldn't mind a vintage Sinclair pocket calculator (not necessarily the Souvereign), maybe a Commodore, but this would give tendencies to hoard those things, wich i want to avoid...
    just my pocket calculator at work gave up and i eeded replacement and that TI30 was there for 5 bucks plus shipping. a good deal, i guess...

    We actually have a "Big Bad Calculator" thread around here somewhere. I've grabbed any cool 70's calculator from the thrifting days but haven't seen a cool one in a few years. One of these days I'll post a few more of my collection, I especially love the early Casios.
