Sony WM-22 produces a wobbly sound

I bought a mint Sony WM-22. But gives a wobbly sound, does it need a new belt? Strange because it doesn't seem used at all. The sound works (both sides) also the rewind and forward mode works.

 

Depending on how the Walkman has been stored the belts could have deterioated evn if has never been used. The belts aren’t that different from rubber bands. I am sure everyone has stored something with a rubber band around it only to find it has lost its elaticity or evn broken a few years later.

 

Yep belts and a bit of oil or lubricant on the pulleys or gears can help.

 

what kind of lubricant is the best?

I use this at work and home too. Does the job. Many other types out there so shop around. I'd stay away from WD-40 though. Its good for a temporary fix but a good lubricant is best.

 

thnx Buzbox but I'm afraid that this kind of lube is not available in Belgium, Europe.

Has anyone tried Sewing Machine Oil? It should be readily available and I have seen it recommended for other mechanisms like model railway engines.
