I'm curious about the SONY models in the woodbox. What are the version of them? The serial number seems like pretty much the same as normal HGs. Why they came with woodbox? Special edition? I can't remember where I saw, but some people on the Internet said they are normal HGs in woodbox and released in Europe. Just curious. Hope I can get some answers here.
The models with woodbox are EX-1HG, EX-2HG, and EX-808HG. I saw EX1 and EX2 come with woodboxs open vertically, but EX808's boxes open horizontally.
There are even a Gold version of EX1. I saw some people have them in woodbox, and Japanese version comes with a frame and is able to hang on the wall. Interesting. People also say that model is limited 200. Is it real?

    Thank you guys

I have one wooden box, of a EX1HG.
    Here are some pictures:

It's a wonderful device, and the box is nice, but the black velvet plastic looks cheap and definitely not at the same level of the rest. Anyway, in the photos it looks very good.

Except the wood-box, everything else is the same as regular cardboard box, is that right? It seems like the Wood-box doesn't even have a serial number sticker to match the player. So far I have seen wood-box with EX-1HG as shown above, and box opens vertically. The Wood-box EX-808HG, the box opens horizontally. I also saw a EX-2HG wood-box, the box looks exact like EX-1HG. People say these wood-box version are for Europe. I totally have no idea about it. I guess maybe SONY only has EX-1HG, EX-2HG, and EX-808HG, so wood-box version is like a special edition, but what I don't understand is how come there is no serial number comes together with the wood-box.

Hi, new member here. I have the EX808HG Walkman but not in the Special Edition box. Do you still have the empty box, and if so, would you be willing to sell it to me? Thanks

While I do have some EX's, I have None with a wooden box.
Wooden boxes for any Walkman, I have none.
I do have other ex's in cardboard box's.
I have other Sony model's both small like in walkmans and larger 'boombox's' in cardboard boxes.
Matching serial numbers in some Sony WM's that match to the cardboard boxes I have.
So without going off topic that is all I can share :)
