Hello, I just need some help here.

I find these pair of Sony Walkman WM-FX777 on my stuff, I try to turn on and I can dial Radio AM/FM and hear without problems.. but when I try to play some tapes, I can hear the engine starts.. but fails to play.

So then I find this port on the side... what goes there? A battery? Without that I can't play tapes?

It is most probably due to the drive belt issue. Other issues can cause this problem as well but by installing a new belt most probably this walkman will start working again

THe slot on the side is for a gumstick battery, an alternative to using the AA battery caddy which attaches to the unit. The belts will be perished in your unit and will need replacing for tape to function.
