So i bought this bag on Ebay, i spotted it and knew it had to be a bag for a cobra top Panny, as i had an RX-DT707 i thought it would be great for that but it doesn't fit as the bag is too small. It got me wondering what model this was originally for but i can find nothing about it and no pics apart from the auction one.

Does anybody know what model this was for? Perhaps you have seen one before?

I know the cobra tops dont get a lot of love here but i kinda dig em

    Hmmm...if this "Panasonic/Big Sound" bag won't fit a Panasonic RX-DT707, then I suppose it won't fit a Panasonic RX-DT75. I mean, aren't those dual-cassette-deck, CD-player-equipped boomboxes essentially the same size? (Shrug)

I don’t suppose the “Big Sound” duffle was made to fit a Panasonic RX-DS55. Like the RX-DT707 and the RX-DT75, the ‘DS55 is remote-controlled. But the ‘DS55 is a single-deck unit, unlike the dual-tape-deck ‘707 and the ‘75. Will that fact make it more likely to nestle nicely in the Panasonic bag? Who knows? (Shrug)

Other potential “cushy conveyance” candidates include the single-deck Panasonic RX-DS102 and – more recently – the Panasonic RX-ES29.

How about the Panasonic RX-DT55? It’s remote-equipped. And it seems kind of compact – that is, for a CD player boombox with a side-by-side, dual-tape-deck layout.

Same with the RX-ED75. But such stereos’ dual-deck layouts remain a (literal) sticking point. (They are a bit wide...)

And, of course, any pockets in the “Big Sound” duffle bag that look like they could fit a pocket calculator would suggest that this accessory was made for the remote-controlled RX-series Panny portables. (Though the direct-control stablemates are welcome to the bag with no ‘DS55 around.)

I think Easthelp has covered about half the options there.

Google Panasonic RX Cobra and there must be at least a dozen variants

The RX-ED70 doesn't look to be quite as wide as some of the others so maybe that would fit

As suggested by Longman, I did a simple copy-and-paste Google search for "Panasonic RX Corba." He is right: Panasonic made a fair number of RX-series stereos in the Nineties.

And, yes, the Panasonic RX-ED70 just might win the "Nestles Nicely" award with the bag that moderator T-Ster scooped on eBay:nodding:.

Dual-deck unit though it is -- and longwave-tuning, too, based on the YouTube upload by Angelicaaudio -- this unit still seems compact enough to enter a "Big Sound" bag, leaving bag and boombox intact. (The 'ED70's outline also reminds me of our RCA RCD-152E, a single-cassette-deck CD player boombox.)

Yes, other, likely physically fitting models are the RX-DS18 and the somewhat different RX-DS28: both single-deck machines. But they're not "Cobra Top" units. So: the most fetching contender is likely the RX-ED70 pointed out by Longman.

That's pretty cool, at first I wrote it off but there's mesh where the speakers are making it useful. We've had a couple Ebay Panasonic Bags come up over here in the last two weeks, cool, extremely rare accessories if you own the matching box.
