Panasonic like Nakamichi

    These early versions of Panasonic RQ-S series cassette players remind me Nakamichi cassette decks

    - they have pad lifters
    - they have special head, where the width is exactly the same as the tape width (on the top)

    Very interesting

    If that's an RQ-S1 - then I've missed out big time. (I bought a restored WM-DD33 instead, the S1 was worth more.)

    That head looks so great Marian. Panasonic did extraordinary products when they really wanted to.

    Earlier versions of RQ-S models, plus some of even earlier models have this head.
    Head is one of the most important things that has effect to sound quality. Panasonic, have the best heads of all slim walkmans. Only some of the Aiwas have head of similar quality installed.
    My first walkman was Panasonic RQ-S55 - with dolby C and excellent amorphous head.
