I am a photography producer looking for subjects for an artist project in NYC. We are looking to take portrait pictures of people with their boomboxes around NYC. The photographer sees that the old New York of where people sat on their stoop or walked down the street listening to their boombox is fading away. He would like to capture the people and places of today before it is gone. If interested please email us, what neighborhood you live in, what you are listening to and which boombox that you own is your favorite. Thank you in advance for your interest and consideration.
Sounds like a fun project but I'm planted in the Midwest, if you do come here I could set up several friends with boxes.... What a fun tour Licensed to Ill was, front row with beer spraying everywhere, the giant dong on the stage was intense, yet offensive. The good ole days when Falstaff was .69 cents a quart and skateboarding was not a crime. I eventually did find out what happened to the skate chicks when they left the ramp early on the big concert day.....
No Detroit, but a few of those guys used to show up at my ramp a couple cities over when I did live in MI...
I am located in California but I am sure there are a lot of boombox enthusiasts in New York. good luck with your project.
