Would anyone know where to get new motors. I just extracted a motor with the numbers "BDH3B" and "26-4X21A" out of a Sony Sports model. Since it doesn't show any signs of life I think a replacement would be the best bet?
This model is a cheap walkman and you can buy another walkman to use the parts needed BUT: try to run the motor directly with 1.5 V battery to see whether or not it works. If it doesn't work try to move it manually , sometimes by lubricating the battery it will work again
Nothing. I tried many setups but the motor doesn't respond. It can be turned by hand very easily though (i.e. it is not stuck). I think I'll just let it be - as you wrote the walkman is a cheap model and not really worth spending to much energy with. Thanks for your help.
Once you confirm that motor is Dead and that you have nothing to lose, maybe try to open it? We all may learn something, and if you follow the tips posted here and boomboxery, maybe it will be revived? Attaching ohmmeter to the leads and then slowly rotating rotor by hand may give some clues as to what happened
