Its a long shot, but am after a working Saisho PS50 or can anyone suggest someone who could fix my own one. It doesn't power up using batteries or mains plug. Am in Leicester, uk. Top money for the right one.
This is what Darren is looking for https://picclick.co.uk/Vintage-Retro-Saisho-Ps50-Ps-50-Stereo-Mw-123334402651.html It would be very surprising if there were any outside of the UK as Saisho was a Dixons own brand, although there might be AKAs.
I rarely have units that are 100% dead unless the batteries leaked and ate everything or someone dropped it. I'd pull the back cover and see if any of the wires around the battery compartment or jack are disconnected. Since neither of those work it might also be the tape/radio switch (or wires). The first thing I do is spin the batteries in the compartment with the radio on, see if the light flickers. If that doesn't do anything then make sure you have the right size power jack and that the +/- is correct. I use a Radio Shack Wall Wart Power Supply with detachable tips that I can change polarity because most units will not work with reversed polarity. Make sure the inside contacts don't have a lot of dirt or corrosion and the plug touches everything, move it around and see if any lights flicker. I bought a lot of Casio Keyboards for cheap because they use the opposite polarity as 95% of other consumer electronics. Unless your using a Casio Wall Wart or a universal power supply with selectable polarity, these units may seem "dead".
Thanks for that, I will try taking it apart later when am not working. I have tried a multi jack and multi power range plug that I have tried but no luck. Like you say it could be a loose wire. I will keep you posted.
Well that hasn't gone to plan, I have tried to open it to have a look inside but its not going good. Many tiny screws holding to many different parts together. I just don't know a simpler way just to open the case.
