Hi all, the Posting subject tells it all, well almost. The part with the service manual is quite obvious. I would need a source for a service manual. The only sources I've found are for paid downloads and I don't really know if they are reliable or the scans even in good quality. So not really an option. The next would be an advice for the caps. In special the small caps 2V/100µF There is no big issue to find caps with 100µF even if I have to chose 4V or 6,3V. This is not an issue. But i absolutely can't find an source (ideal in Germany) for caps of about 4mm diameter. The smallest through hole cap with fitting specifications were 6mm and this won't fit into the board due to the layout and that the caps are to close together. By the way for. Did anybody recap this device? For me it was very strange to see quite bad soldering (some solder balls could be found) and flux remains within the device. Not sure if this was already once opened or during production there were some manual solder steps and they were not done by a skilled employee. At least I know that recapping is necessary. Tested all of them and lot had more than 30% capacity loss. Oh and you might ask why I would need the service manual after I disassembled everything. Basically to reassamble everything and to make adjustmens and messurements if they are stated in the manual.
Welcome to the forum Trymon, I found a thread in the old forum with some limited information on recapping AIWAs, hope this helps. http://www.stereo2go.com/topic/index.php?content_oid=217178235650847317&board_oid=522740502721869426
Mister X indeed you were a great help. I never thought of Tantalum Capacitators, which were stated in the old forum posting. As fitting caps doesn't seem to be manufactured anymore they might be the one and only chance for a recap. Following I have for all capacitators the messured values. They absolutely need to be replaced. Not all of them but more than enough. To the left side the expected values and to the right the result in µF. SMD 220µF - 87µF SMD 220µF - 8nF (Yes nF not µF) Through Hole 220 µF - 158 µF Through Hole 220 µF - 241 µF Through Hole 220 µF - 189 µF Through Hole 220 µF - 236 µF Through Hole 220 µF - 259 µF Through Hole 100 µF - 75 µF Through Hole 100 µF - 70 µF Through Hole 100 µF - 72 µF Through Hole 100 µF - 72 µF Still searching for an service manual. edit: I looked just at some other caps I have for a different project. For the device I have 100µF 6,3V SMD caps. If I bend the legs downwards and remove the plastic belov the cap this fit perfekt. 4mm diameter and the lags should be just long enough to fit throgh the PCB. Even better solution.
There's a sticky on top of the tech section from bub I missed, I think there's updates to plop's thread. There's some manuals in the old forum section but the search engine isn't great, it might be down there. I checked the usual sources but haven't it yet. I'll keep looking, maybe it will pop up somewhere.
Thanks, i'm very grateful. I'm also still searching for one. Maybe I will risk the few bucks to purchase a pdf if nothing could be found. The damn PX410 has that much screws that I prefer to have the manual for reassembly.
Are you still looking for a SM? I have one I'm in the same boat, preparing for a recap of my two HS-PX410s
Hello HWTest, could you please post SM for aiwa hs-px410 please? I am the proud owner but looks like my walkman is missing trebble ( not sure if it is azimuth issue or capacitor problem). Can be head adjusted? Did you recap your aiwa ? Thank you
