This is a repair I did on my Sharp GF-575 a little while ago, I'm posting this so that others can see that it's not too difficult to make a good repair to smashed plastic.
This sort of damage can make the choice of keep it, bin it or it becomes a parts box.
I will always attempt a repair, you can't really make it worse.
Preparation is the key make sure have everything you need for the repair before you start i.e.
Epoxy glue, filler, several grades of abrasive paper (I use P1200 for the final sand), some scrap plastic pieces to use for strengthening behind the repair and of course matching paint and primer.
I recommend using primer even if the paint doesn't need any, being a matt finish it will quickly show up any flaws in your filling and sanding that need more work.

The following pictures are my repair, they don't show every stage but give a good idea.

Well done. I can't see the join. How did you find paint that matches or did you re-spray the whole box ?

Yeah it turned out really well but I have done a few before, I was looking for paint for another box a while ago and found that plasti-kote silver 109S is almost an exact match for most Sharp silver boxes and Sanyos, so I bought a few tins. I only painted the damaged section using some discreet masking.
