I am pretty confused about whether this is real or it is just a concept picture of a boombox that was never produced.
It looks like someones Coreldraw (or similar art programs) concept to me. Interesting question. Did any boombox ever use those blue VFD displays, so common in 1970s calculators and 1980s home HiFi ? I don't mean LEDs which were really common or LCDs which were common in the age of eggs. Back to the original question the 8 at the end would have needed a separate display module, and the LED above the 0037 is too close as VFDs need quite a bit a bit of glass around the display for sealing etc. Nowadays it could be done using OLED or TFT LCD dsiplays but I don't think it would have been feasible to make this in the 20th Century
A close-up of the power button--top-left corner--reveils it's identity as a Sharp GF-1500-something... I'm going to look into it.
Ahhhhh.... I remember when this was the topic of the old forum. Couple of guys had discussed (and created images) of what boomboxes would have looked like if the companies had continued making them!!!!
There was not just that one which had been "Imagined". That was a GOOD WHILE BACK!!!! Does anyone remember when?
