Just saw it the other day. I don't know if it's the hardware in the signal chain, or the source itself, but it sounds better than the vinyl presentation I heard on another channel:
I take it you are saying you prefer my video which was done from the Nautilus SuperCassette rather than the video done from the LP? If so, wow. That’s a great complement and I’m honored. Cheers! Oz
Somehow I am not surprised: we are listening here to a $99 Ortofon 2M Red (nice cart, but Rega P5 may deserve better). From what I saw, @Oswaldo Martinez has tonearm cable/interconnects more expensive than that (((correction: I am listening to the headphones plugged into my laptop. Not even close to the Analog Bliss @Oswaldo Martinez experiencing when listening to his hi-end setup)))
Oh, it appears that this recording is coming from an analogue cassette tape, a Nautilus Super Cassette tape, playback on Nakamichi deck. Audio & video captured on Oz's video recorder and posted to youtube.com. Most excellent, his contributions are definitely the most !!! Cheers, Bleusy ****************
Thanks to all! I am honored my humble videos are being so enjoyed and appreciated here. Analog rules!
It's an interesting comparison. I know that the rig used by HIFI square pants user in Youtube is top-class (at least in terms of ADC, phono amplifier...) because it's a friend of mine that I know in the real world. He lives near Barcelona and we meet personally. He is also user here: @Sony UX-S Maybe he wants to join the conversation...
Hi everyone! Yes, that is my video. Bear in mind that it was uploaded 5 years ago and the gear I owned at that time was not as good as the components I have now. In other words, if I recorded the video today, it would sound much better than the old one. It is also true that the source of my video is a plain edition of the LP, whereas Oswaldo's video is sourced from an "audiophile reference standard" cassette and played with a reference Nakamichi deck. Anyway, in my opinion, it's a matter of personal tastes; there is no "best one". It seems to me that the SuperCassette sounds warmer overall, and the record is a bit thin sounding in comparison, but very detailed! This thread makes me want to record the song again using better components and, of course, the MFSL edition, which I purchased some years after making the video...Then we'd be able to make a fair comparison. Nice video, @Oswaldo Martinez ! PS: Thanks for mentioning me, @walkman archive
Hello Paquito! (a.k.a. Francisco) I'd like to add that you are also a member of my Facebook audio group called Phonogram. I've always been a fan of your YouTube channel. One of the very best sonically and stylistically. The image quality and your editing is really superb. Anyway, I'd like to throw into the mix the Nautilus SuperDiscs LP. I have that too so! Cheers everyone! Oz
I like it, I wouldn't mind a throw down, we could vote on which one sounds the best. I'm surprised you guys listen to Linda Ronstadt, I love her but I like just about all forms of music.
Man I better hit my warehouse to try get my hands on my Nautilus LP. It’s there alright, but in which box?!!! Lol
I know the feeling. I just packed-up all my vinyl, tapes and optical to go into storage, and I just found a few more pieces to file-in! As for the "throwdown"... I can't believe what I've started here! All because of a noted comparison, done with what's arguably my worst equipment. (The better stuff is in storage also.) None-the-less, I'm looking forward to the comparison... even if I must play it through my phone (Samsung Galaxy Luna Pro) to my Sanyo FWSA205E Soundbase, "doctored" (adjustable subwoofer simulator signal filter/booster app) or not! Or maybe I'll just feed a "clean" signal optically to the 'Base via my broadband cable box.
