Hi! I just received my first Walkman, a blue EX672. It works pretty well but problems come when I try to do fast-forward or fast-backward. It's like it doesn't have enough power to rewind the tape. I've tried these functions without a cassette in (by faking the sensors signal with my finger) and they worked. I think this could be caused by a wrecked belt but I'm not sure. Do you know what this could be?
I had the same issue with different Sony EX series including this model and by changing the belt issues resolved. So try to change the belt and hopefully it will work fine.
Well if it doesnt have any corrosion on the battery compartment, it is the belt that has lost its strenght and the pulleys are rubbing each other badly... Enjoy the audio quality that it produces when RV is turned on! try it!
I've ordered the belt from ebay (it was sold as EX672 compatible), now I have just to wait! Do you have any service manual?
Sure! Sony WM- EX 670 / 672 Service manual: https://mega.nz/#!4ooHzKYL!d3fztLVqjB9Nw_YTfCzGG3JEs--9q4CpNwMfYAtrBzc -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ...more info about Ex 674, almost the same as 672: https://www.petervis.com/electronics guides/Sony WM-EX674/Sony WM-EX674.html What was your seller?
Hi, sorry for the late response but I was really busy. Yesterday I received the replacement belt. The original one in the walkman was completely broken. Now it is working great! Also fast forward and fast backwards are working, but sometimes I can hear a strange noise (I think from the motor). I'll have to see if the other EX672 I'm waiting for does the same thing.
