A boombox collector a friend of mine (he is Iskandar our Stereo2go member) sending this unit to ask if I could rescue this piece of gem. I'm more than happy to offer the help. Here to walk through with you the restoration works on this beautiful unit. AC power cord and DIN interconnect cable were being cut off!
All the cables successfully rejoin back. This unit has no auxiliary line in but only phono input. So I modify it to render audio line in bypassing the phono pre-amp to the selector. Desolder the old terminal and ready to replace a new one. Finally a new set of terminal to make this unit perfect.
Thank you Ken for reviving my beloved Denon. Your workmanship is quite outstanding and brilliant. We managed to revived an almost extinct boombox species like the denon. A job well done. I will treasure this forever.
Denon's are non-existant over here, thanks for sharing. I've always loved home remodeling shows, I look for old cars in the field YouTube Videos and also watch electronics restoration videos. There's something about taking something old and gettting it back into working condition. Electronic restoration seems to be one of the hardest due to the many different manufacturing technics used that are hard, if not impossible to do in a small shop. In the early days of the forum there were a lot of threads on repair techniques, I'd love to see more, I know I have a few projects I'd like to do some work on.
I have a Denon H70. A cousin of H55. Recently i dig it out from storage. I manage do some work on it, like cleaning, changing the belts and replacing the back speaker terminal too which is broken. I manage to get the cassette player working but the cassette amplifier was shot. The right channel amplifier below the deck is not working too. I hope Ken80s can help me to revive my beloved Denon.
Hi, Ken80s it is good to see your forum on repairing these boombox. I am searching information on my Denon when i stumbled across u reviving your friend's denon. Hope to hear from u soon.
Thanks for the photos Vincent Lee, that's a very rare boombox, at least around here, the only advertising I can find is from your part of the world and they're not that model. The design and buttons are very close to some of the Technics Boomboxes, I wonder if they were built in the same factory.
Hi Vincent, sorry for the late reply due to busy schedule. Can you check your PM for further information..
