I really like the 70s/early 80s boomboxs - these 2 units - Sencor & Akai - are perfect, i.e., operational in all functions = recording, autostop, etc. I prefer the Sencor a it has loudness & stereo wide functions - has a great sound. Cost of the units were: $NZ0.00 for the Akai & $NZ10.00 for the Sencor
Very nice they look like they are in mint condition. Welcome to the Sencor Club, they are very rare over here but the quality seems to be top-notch. I only have a little AKAI with the crazy speakers that twist but they seem to be pretty substantial boxes as well.
I got kicked out of Sencor Club by the Wollsey Fire, but while it lasted Sencor S-4800 was my favorite "workhorse" for when barbecuing/beer-ing/talking to you guys! Paid a few hundred for mine, then spent a few months fixing its crazy cassette mechanism, then bought an extra mech off eBay for a hundred, then another week for a full re-cap with Nichicon FineGold and Rubicon caps... Yes, it was my all-time favorite bbox! Crazy thing: I had to disassemble it quite a few (dozen) times but if you ask, I do not know how I did it
SENCOR is a model S-4700s - the sound is really good - far superior to the AKAI - model AJ-420FS Currently playing Klaus Schulze Return of the Temple - also see attachedpic of my Tangerine Dream cassette collection
That's a lot of Tangerine Dream, I don't think I've ever seen their cassette in my travels. Goblin from Italy was in town last night, I had another appointment so I couldn't go, I didn't know if you enjoy soundtrack bands.
I had to check how many albums they have released (over 100 !). I presume you have the DVD of Risky Business. A superb soundtrack for Tom Cruise's best film.
Yes I have Risky Business. A lot of the tapes I have recorded off YouTube. I then print cassette inlay cards using Jonessoft Cassette Inlay Card programme - download from here: https://www.jonessoft.co.uk/inlayprint.html
They seemed to be in a ton of 80's movies and I'm a huge fan of soundtracks. I just read they also did Grand Theft Auto V, I did not know that, next time I play, I'll have to listen for them.
It looks like we have a club now of Berlin-Skool EM lovers here! I have all TD albums up to 1990, up to when Froese went solo with his son... he lost me there and then! But I have ALL the albums by Klaus Schulze, in constant rotation thru my main stereo and my Pono player... would be nice to share our discoveries outside “of the evident suspects” Should anyone care to comment, I have a few as a start: Pyramid Peak by my friend Alex is amazing, esp his first efforts My friend and neighbor: Aesma Daeva made some mind-bending tunes, but this is borderline with my next (post-Klaus) fav group Dead Can Dance Last but not least: Der Spyra!!! Young reincarnation of Klaus: sublime... Before you ask: although this is a “lowly EM” I do not use YouTube, only CDs and my own flac rips!
You know I'm going to say John Carpenter, and there's nothing better than Escape From New York. Sorry he's not from Germany, maybe this guy is, I don't know but I love this song.
