Hey All, Would like to say “hello” to all forum members and wish you all a happy and healthy new year. I’ve been a Walkman owner since my early teens (when tape was still king for portable music or home recording) and have always enjoyed the interaction with the units when listening to music from them. Recently I have been buying old units that are no longer working and bringing them back to life partly for the fun of it and also to own and play with Walkmans that I couldn’t afford as a kid. I’d like to say thanks to those posting advice up here on the forums - I’ve already learned a lot about my Walkmans just by reading through the threads here. All the best and I hope to chat with some of you in the future,
Welcome Lee So you actually had a Walkman in your teens. Maybe you are younger than me. I had to make do with buying myself a Sanyo when in my Twenties, although I did have a Sony Boombox when i was 18. On Stereo2Go we love seeing pictures of other peoples collections so if possible try posting a few.
Welcome to the forum Lee Whittingham! We'd love to hear about your work, it seems we've reached the point where even a NOS unit needs some TLC to get working again, I just assume they don't work or they'll only work for a short time before they need some maintenance.
Thanks. Started with a WM-4 (which is now living abroad at a friends house) and then later saved up and bought a 701C which is still going strong! Will get a few photos together and post them up. Thanks Mister X. Very true - although I’m a keen digital music listener, there’s something really personal about tapes and Walkmans. Plus when they go,wrong it’s a great excuse to get the screwdrivers out Well spotted! Hate to think how many hours got burned playing Manic and Jet Set.
