Hello everybody, I had these ordered a couple of months ago and they are great quality belts so far. I think it does not mather where you buy belts they al come from China. So why not directly! 1x1 mm square belts or 0.7x0.7 are available. https://a.aliexpress.com/_dUTvGaL Greets
I do not recommend buying from Alibaba if you need customer support. probably for cheap stuff like what you mentioned (belt) customer support is not a big deal but i rather buy it from more reputable sellers like ebay or Amazon where you have the right to complain if you receive the wrong item. For your information I did buy from Alibaba 30 belt for cheap(multiple orders), it supposed to be square belt but I received 30 round belts. anyway I complained that the belts were not what they explained in the listing but after sending and receiving several emails I decided to give up. (still I have those round belts unused. Several pack of them)
This is aliexpress, first off all opening a dispute when received the wrong item is always solved by aliexpress in the correct way. I bought over 200 orders here and yeah with some are issue's but I always got my money back except one time. But because i pay with MasterCard im also protected and got my money back anyway. So in my opinion there is 0 risk. Amazon is selling for a premium (a high one), and when you pay with the right methods on aliexpress you have the same buyer protection.
Aliexpress is part of Alibaba anyway, Am glad you had good experience with Alibaba, But i do not recommend it to other members. your link gives 30 belts for USD 6.71. (see the snipped photo below) On ebay you can get it for USD 3.85 , seller ID is yotake
I think you don't understand the principles of the platforms. Both platforms are marketplaces where shops sell there items, this seller that you refer to is based in China and has also a store account on AliExpress indeed a part of Alibaba. They sell the same product that come out of the same factory's. Its just that they have exposure on both Ebay and AliExpress, when they sell a item they pay just like you and me a fee to Ebay or AliExpress. Regard the shipping costs it depends on your location, for me the shipping costs are only $1,32. So in my case its cheaper to buy on AliExpress and in your case its cheaper to buy on Ebay. So I can buy 2 sets of belts on Aliexpress that for 99% sure where made in the same factory as when I buy it on Ebay from the seller. My intentions where good, but it looks like its depending on your location
This is not a nice way of talking to other members. Remember, to always respect others , regardless of what the discussion is.
Using the same shipping option (Cainiao Super Economy Global) as in the Netherlands example the shipping cost to USA is US $1.73 . Edit : Note that this option may be cheap but is slow and has no tracking so this is a false comparison with @Boodokhan 's example .
I am Not getting myself involved onto this argument of ‘respect’, having none to my dear self from even my own family ... plus this recent uprise in LA... But: the OP is Absolutely Wrong: Not all belts are being made by our Comrads in China! @mihokm makes belts for Walkmans in Slovakia, there is another Dude in my native Ukraine who competes with @mihokm but has no ‘street creds’ here. For when you restore Nakamichi deck you go for Marrs Communications belts made in Japan up to the original specs... So, in one word: NO, not all belts are made in China. just in case anybody wants 5 cents of my personal experience - those $5 belts are even worse than rubber-bands: uneven cut, fail within a year, good only for a quick fix’n’sell scam. As most of us here at S2G I have a few packs but I personally use them for maybe as a counter belt, knowing that within a year I have to change it
Ok thanks for your experience and explanation appreciate it. Its never my intention to disrespect people just wanted to share something. Have a nice day all
I just checked my Sanyo personal stereo and it is still working fine with the belt from an Ebay pack I fitted a few years ago
same here, following advises from my friends here and at boomboxery (like the OP here) I kept buying and using these kits. One consistent thing about them is their inconsistency in quality. Some are OK, so I put such eBay seller on my watch list but belts bought a year later look totally different from what I expect. Statistically, they can be of better quality, as is @Longman experience. Or as @tomtom87 said: If 99% number is true then I tend to fall into 1% category of unlucky buyers. For the Walkmans that I use to rewind cassettes it makes no sense to buy belts from @mihokm On the other hand, it is difficult to get factory specs from hi-end Walkmans or cassette decks when using inconsistently made belts. And maybe even disrespectful to your own efforts when you spend days/weeks refurbishing Nak cassette mechanism
Better question is, simply. Who make the best belts in the multiple sized packages. and where to buy from? Please provide links to these sellers. I do NOT care about price as much I as I CARE about Quality. So where are the best belts found from who? Please give link to buy from here please? Thanks James
I have bought quite a few belts from fixyouraudio and he has been very helpful, especially when the ones he sent didn't fit due to Panasonic changing the design of one of their personal stereos. However, he specialises in the thin belts used in later personal stereos. I doubt whether he would have anything suitable for a standard cassette deck in a boombox or even a shoebox style recorder.
About Marrs belts. I have heard on Youtube that they dont sell Japan Made belts to Nakamichi anymore. Tried to order and the said Yes they do but I haven´t heard anything from them since several weeks.
you might want to double-check this information with folks at tapeheads.net: there are few professionals restoring cassette decks there. Sadly, Fred Marrs passed away in March, but at least since 2018 all business transaction were run by his daughter Krista. Hopefully she will continue but lost emails and long respond times is normal. A few months ago I had the opposite (technically, the same) experience with Krista. I asked if they have a belt for my Yamaha KX-330, but then cancelled my request because Yamaha performed up to specs with original belt. But a few weeks later I received my "free" belt for Yamaha. Belt is definitely made in Japan
received another order today from a different seller, I have to say these belt are awful! Not flexible anymore, not the same dimensions. I put them already in the trash, it looks like you have to be lucky with these kind of cheap belts.
