@ Longman: many points, maybe all but i'm not sure myselfe :redface

at least it's a military black box thingy made by "Telefunken" called "Art.Rechner Falke"

can be a flight recorder, any kind of weapon control recorder - can't even find a hint in the net.
quality is like a Nagra (in 60'es german Telefunken were Nagra distributor, even sold Nagra III
under their own name). if there's any interest i try to make better pics from tape tensioner, that
mechanism ist the most stunning thing you've ever seen...

well, afterwards i'm looking forward for any hint, would like to get ths one spinning !

The reason I said that was that it looks to be the same sort of build quality as this

Is it tape or wire and how many tracks is the head ?
You need to make it replay, although there is always the possibility that all you will get will sound like a Sinclair Spectrum Tape. :nodding:

it‘s tape, standard-size. check the pic closely, right now there's the clear end in it:

    62291849447__99C68982-3FAD-41D9-9659-2C05D122FCBE.JPG

check size compared to a Nagra SN:

    62291838019__C7CE88F3-19CF-4054-A1FB-EF85448223CE.JPG

now this is the model of it (BW and BUND mean, it's military):

    62291843912__C6A541F7-E840-4B3C-8683-BF639599BAF8.JPG

...and yes, i'm working out the connection to replay what's on the tape, will sound like my VIC-20 datasettes from 1982 i guess :crazy

    anyway, i'll let you know...

I have never touched a VIC20. I do have two Commodore 64s though :nodding:
Back in the day my computer purchases went ZX81, TI99-4A, MSX.

Your comment about Military Kit reminded me of something that happened to one of the software engineers at work.

"Can we borrow your disc module for ten minutes"
    "Sure"
    Ten minutes later
"Here it is back. Does it still work ?"
    "It seems to; why ?"
"Good. We have just done the official one meter drop test on it". :shock

had them all longman my first real test was in 2011 when i built my first comuter with 4 graphics cards in it with 64 gb of ram, that was something back then and held the world record in benchmarking for me...done a few but much higher spec since then, just sold one with 80gb of ram....sadly it's all over due to illness and lack of interest but it was fun

Sorry to hear you aren't well.

The PC I am using now, a standard HP desktop, with an i5, 12GByte RAM, a fast SSD and on board graphics has lasted me since 2013 and still does what I want. Before then I used to change my computer about every three years. However, laptops seem to be accumulating now. I recently counted and I now have ten and that doesn't include the two I bought for my wife. That is because I haven't sold any for about ten years. I could still be tempted by an Alienware, simply for the looks

The only recent change to the desktop was swapping the Hard Disc to a 4TB because the 2TB one broke. Luckily I had a fairly recent backup. I have probably spent more money on Hard Drives than the computer. I have quite a few 3TB externals and a couple of 6TB ones.

You can't have enough backups; and yes at least one of them is in my storage room 1/2 a mile away from here.

The military discs I was saying about were probably about 40MByte SCSI as that was thirty years ago. Back then I built a 20MByte external drive for my Atari ST using a power supply, standard box etc. Those were the days.

I have an old alienware 18" laptop the best looking one they made imho....alienware are much faster now but sadly they have lost there looks imho and still cost the same as then lad about 4 grand, they don't even make an 18" anymore, mine is an m18x which has the fastest card that it will take....slow by todays standards but has the all important ssd

The question is which is worth more Radio Raheem's Alienware or Autoreverser's Commodore SX64s?

I have mentioned before that old computers seem to be appreciating. About twelve years ago i thought I did really well buying a complete Amiga system with Accelerator for about £50 and flipping it for about £120. Nowadays, that set up would be worth at least £500. I still have four Amigas but fairly standard ones. This is the one I sold.

Nice longman had all the amigas up to the 3000, hate to know what it is worth now....no offense to auto's 64 but what can you do with it now lol

in fairness it is probably worth more than my alienware....i bought it second hand but since then the price has trippled
...don't care tho lads, look at m90's on ebay i have 2 fully working....i will NEVER sell on ebay to much can go wrong lads imho

He can play Commodore 64 games while listening to what some people consider to be the best sound chip ever fitted into a computer.
So good there have been several synthesizers built around them, including the £1000 SidStation.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elektron_SidStation

That was the main reason I bought my C64s. I also have a spare SID somewhere.
One day I will have to get a Mssiah cartridge which does most of the stuff the SidStation does on the C64 itself.

    https://www.mssiah.com/

Actually much cheaper than a SidStation or the DIY version I was considering building.
