Hi, I recently replaced a new belt on Sony WM-150. But when I pressed play it kept switching playing forward and reverse constantly.

Anyone has any idea how to fix this problem.

    Thank you.

    Hi !

I am thinking of 2 possible problems regarding the issue:

    1. Check that the belt is routed correctly. In this thread there are pictures with the correct belt routing: http://stereo2go.com/forums/threads/walkman-150-clutch-repair.628/
    2. Most likely the clutch gear in you unit is cracked. If it does not rotate the table reels fast enough it may cause the problem you are talking about. The gear should be replaced anyway, even if it's not the cause of the problem.
You can purchase a new gear from forum member Marian Mihok here: https://fixyouraudio.com/product/sony-wm-150-clutch-gear/

I recently bought a SONY WM-B603, which has the same mechanism and the clutch gear was broken. At this point in time I think all of them are cracked.

It is to be noted that the mechanism should run in reverse/switch to reverse when no cassette is inserted. It will only run in forward when the reverse table reel is turning.
