Hi, I am a repair guy by self learning. and have interests in portable audio machines from walkman to Ipod and AV equipment as well . This forum helps me a lot, so in return I wish to post something from my repair job. Hope it can help someone. I am very lucky to live in Hong Kong, where I can get a lot of cheap electronic parts and tools from China, as well as order walkman parts from overseas. That is why I decided to be a repair guy, but dealing with old machines is not easy as most of them are in bad condition, so my successful rate is only a little over 50%. Hope I can meet people worldwide and learn from them. Thanks and sorry for my poor gramma.
Welcome Simon Hing! One of Stereo2go's Hall of Fame Members was from Hong Kong, his name was ARKAY and he had a bunch of stories of boombox hunting around town. He used to find 2-3 of evey nice box known and they were pretty cheap. He dropped off the forum about 8 years ago but you can still find some of his postings in the "forum Reader" or the "old_forum." His stories were a few pages long about stopping at shops around town that sold vintage electronics. If you have any stories or photos please post!
