Hello everyone! I’m having some issues with my Philips D8614, I came across them while trying to repair the tape mech of the unit. The buttons for the transport don’t do anything and the take up motor runs continuously. I’m assuming it might have something to do with a little board that was installed in the machine. I only know that 2 of the wires are hooked up to the power supply and another one of the wires is hooked to one of the pins of the play button. Any ideas or suggestions on what is the purpose of that board and if it can be the culprit for my problems with the tape transport buttons?
if it's phillips i can guarantee you the cogs on the deck will need replacing, sorry to be the bearer of bad news
Yes. I already know that I have to replace them. I managed to at least get one of them 3D printed and it works well (the gear that engages the mechanism). The problem is that the transport controls don’t do anything. If I manage to solve the issue I’ll replace the rest of the gears.
check the micro switches also check there is power getting to the motors, also spin the flywheel to reset the deck as it may be suck half way
At the top right of the board is a transistor and a relay. The transistor probably drives the relay. Does the relay click when you press play ? If not the transistor might have blown or the relay coil might be open circuit. If it does the relay contacts might be dirty. Do you have a service manual or a schematc ? If not I would try to get one.
That Board wasn’t Even present in the schematics, it definitely was put there by someone, but I have no idea of it’s purpose. There was no noise coming from it.
