hey folks, you might remember me offering a free Grundig box (RR 260) here ? the one who finally got it for his own use was my 8 years old son, he finally convinced me (...all by himselfe !) that a boombox with cassette-player is better than an mp3- player Lately we found a set of 1982 audio-book cassettes, episodes 1-20 of the legendary Knight Rider - it's his FAVOURITE now, he plays those tapes up and down the whole day - well, I've never been a big fan of that series, but I seriously think he's on the right way
Used to do the same thing as a kid Auto...would record it with a cheap mono from tv on a saterday and play that episode all week then start over again haha
Makes me feel old my eldest son was well into Knight Rider he's 39 now, it's great when youngsters show an interest in boxes and cassettes, I have given a few of my grandchildren boxes and walkman they love them .
sir, a) I'm also not the youngest, and b) as my grandpa used to say: you're only old when you got more time then ideas
Did someone mention Knight Rider? I kept a few things from my childhood regarding that. I still have my 80's AM Radio Knight Rider Car and Lunch box.
Damn I love Knight Rider, it was a big part of childhood for me, I longed to have a KITT of my very own. Nice to see your son getting into these old things, someones got to carry the flag for us when we get too old to lug em around!
I didn't notice what were you talking about still I saw Kitt pic posted by Transistorized. LOL!!! Knight Rider was called "El Coche Fantástico" in Spain; ("The Fantastic Car") and we heard it of course in spanish. BTW, Which language the series and audio-book are originally on? I assume english of course but I think it was a german series... EDIT: Errrr....not! Since I am viewing J-cards clearly in german, I assume german now...
Between Knight Rider and The Dukes Of Hazzard, I believed I learned to drive (albeit illegally) at around the age of 11 That lunchbox with the thermos must be worth a pretty penny. I'm guessing many didn't survive with it intact. My thermoses ended up as makeshift footballs at lunch
Love it! If you were a kid in my neighborhood, you were no body until you had either the GI Joe or KITT Big Wheel. I had KITT. I got yelled at a lot for riding full speed down the driveway and pulling the hand brake just before the street. It was AWESOME! Google Image Search Pic
On the topic of Knight Rider.. In the first episode of season 3 (Knight of the Drones), this apparatus is shown - it a transformer It is obviously a prop but it seems to feature an existing boombox. Any idea which one?
It looks similar to a Sanyo MR-V8 / M7900 https://www.wikiboombox.com/tiki-index.php?page=Sanyo+MR-V8 Maybe a clone.

It's interesting to see how many AKA's of the small Sanyo were produced in the early 80's. Seems, it was a very famous boombox.
Does anybody remember Kitt, the old member from the mid-2000's? He had a full-size working model of the car. I think he disappeared around 2012 but he used to post all of the time.
