    Hi.
I was really lucky to get my hands on this great Sony player. After belt replacement it plays, sounds, rewind and generally works excellent. But there is one strange problem with recording. The recording mode wasn't turning on at all so I cleaned the switch with contact spray. Now when it's in recording mode it seems to work fine, it erases old recording, in headphones i can hear perfectly clear what is being recorded, led lights are showing that there is signal and then after rewinding I am surprised to discover that the tape is completely blank, it didn't record anything.

    Thanks for any help.

Check the supply voltage of IC302 (REC EQ amp), it is located in the bottom left corner as you look at the PCB with cover removed (batteries on the right side).
You should have ~11V between pin8 (+) and pin4 (GND). If the supply voltage is missing, look for cracked traces on the PCB in that area, especially near the screw that holds the PCB.

Thanks for respond. The supply voltage is in place. I don't have voltmeter, I was hoping it may be easy to fix issue like need to solder the broken wire or something, if it is more complicated electronic case I will pass as I am too much of a dilettante to work more on so expensive player.
