    hi

I have been on S2go since about 2004 but lost my login during the change over. I was most active way back, back when ned209, gettoman, litfan, et al were here.

I have some blasters to sell as I'm needing to make space! couple of crowns and a gf767!

Welcome back Dogtemple! I remember all you guys but I hung out mostly in the troll section (Walkmans). I learned a lot from all of those "old-timers" after growing up only seeing crappy 3-piecers, I was exposed to all of the amazing other boomboxes and have got a decent size collection now.

Hey Andy, Where the EFF have you been man, i've never forgot you, i remember you and me in the mid 2000s on here joking around about a lasonic battery door, i think that was what we was goofing about, we used to have a right laugh, and this site was epic, so many members all on at once, i couldn't keep up with the threads. sadly those days are long gone, things happen, we all got old. most members moved on, some member have died (litfan r.i.p) this place and boomboxery are ghost towns now, not to shit on the places, i hate doing that, but i think there's little point in carrying these sites on. facebook groups have killed these sites now. it reminds how things used to be in the old days, the little corner stores, one shop you get your meat, another shop you get your friut, but then the big supermarkets come along (facebook) and then it becomes a one stop shop, and then the little shops (stereo2go and boomboxery) get driven out of business. its a shame. had some great times on here.

I'd much rather hang out on here then Identity Stealer Facebook, tracking, key-logging, facial recognition, no thanks, that's a deal with the devil.

This site got screwed when they changed host sites and then Hoopla became a disaster and wouldn't easily let the old data go. Since the newest revision the old data is now mostly in the forum reader but it can be difficult to search through everything and that seems to be disappearing everyday, almost everything you see/read is from the last four years and some of the early amazing content has been vaporized. I think a lot of the old posters were upset and didn't want to repost, and sometimes now, this is a more time consuming process. A lot of members are gone and even more are done with collecting although some have come back periodically.

Other than that things are kind of chugging along and this is still one of the goto sites for portables. I've got stacks of old websites in my favorites that are long gone, this is one of the few 2nd generation internet sites from 1999+ that is still moving on.

Personally the reddit, facebook, etc linear/vertical style of posting isn't that much fun unless there's a ton of content.

The good news is I bought another boombox local tonight, I think it's AIWA's first CD Boombox! Unfortuntately I can't find any info on it.....

A lot of the equipment we write about is noe over 40 years old. How many of you were interested in 40 year old antiques in your twenties ? I was, possibly because my father was into antiques and collecting, but was definitely an exception. I commented a few weeks ago about buying some cassettes in a charity shop and the young chap on the till had to ask the manageress what they were so he could ring them up in the correct category. I'm sure he wouldn't have had that problem with a Gameboy cartridge, something youngsters would now think is an antique.

@Mister X, about fakebook, i am completely and utterly on your side. personally i hate the place, it's "pure aids" it's full of peoples holidays, pictures of peoples lunch, adverts trying to sell you crap you don't want. but for me it's a trap, because i have friends that i have known since being knee high that i don't see anymore because they moved away, old friends that have passed away, and only for fakebook, i would never have found out, i have family on there, cousins on there, there's a boombox group with 47k members, its active AF every day, there's no hate, no jealousy, no competition, just love for radios, you can put a pic up of the cheapest nastiest ghetto and people just appreciate it. from all around the world, i'm in classic motorbike groups, old classic car groups, there's fakebook marketplace thats even bigger than ebay (in my opinion). but trust and believe, i know what you are talking about and i am 100% on your side.. Sorry this is a long message But..

when i joined this site it was around 2002, the site was called pocketcalculatorshow.com, it wasn't even a real site, it was kind of like a messageboard where you could chat to eachother. i was on 56k modem, so that's how long ago we are talking lol.. then the owner paul created strereo2go go which was the first proper site. it was mental, there was so many members, so much traffic you couldn't keep up. it was great for a few years, but then all arguments started to brake out and people started leaving, then member Fatdog split off and created boomboxery, then basically that was the end of this site. but then fakebook came along and that has destroyed boomboxery forum as well now. from what i've seen so far on fakebook, there's about 4-5 boombox groups, one is "Boombox" then there's facebook version of "Stereo2go", i think facebook version of Boomboxery is still on there, Another one is "Boombox Collectors UK". and they are all in one place, access any of them with one click of a mouse. i used to love this place, but as much as it pains me to say this, and believe me it hurts to see this place like this, as long as fakebook exists, these sites are done. it's over.
