Several years ago, I created an all new leather case for the DD walkmans, and I know there are a good few hundred of them out there now being used as intended... I created these really just to satisfy my own needs, but it turned out to be quite a project. Recently, I decided to create a new spare, specifically to address a known problem with the Flex Cable on the Aiwa HS-G500,(you may know it as the G08 or the G8) which splits over time and renders some or all of the case door EQ inoperable. So, I have 12 sets of all new custom designed Flex Cables. Sold as a pair, consisting of the EQ cable and the small cable for the playback head. If you love this machine as much as I do, but have delayed a restoration because of these parts being so difficult to find, this may be just the ticket. I cant even begin to describe the euphoria I experienced when my beloved HS-G500 bounced back into full operational mode, with the EQ working as it should. And its fair to say, I also noticed an improvement in SQ with both cabled fitted. Granted, i may have imagined it, but to me it was quite tangible. The only caveat with these is that you undertake the work yourself, well versed in soldering and in particular.... soldering Flex PC circuits , or consult a qualified technician.
Nice work doublecee, I have one of your cases. I had the Aiwa above back in the day. If you are doing the flex cables for the Sony WM-DD9, now that one I would be interested in. I have looked everywhere I could think off, nowhere to be found.
