Looking through an old catalogue I noticed how they liked to use radio cassettes as props in the furniture section.

Name these two boomboxes and the year of the catalogue.

To add a bit of fun for the holidays I add a prize.
I will send a new, sealed TDK FE90 cassette to the first person with the correct three answers.
(addresses in Russia or Belarus excluded as I believe our postal service won't deliver to there).

One of my main regrets when I look back at my period as a Mod for this site was that we didn't do more fun stuff like this.

I'll take a punt that the first one is a Hitachi TRK-5381/5850 and the second one is the very rare Siemens RM781 Club.

    Year? I'd go 1982

I'll give you two out of three. You can keep trying. Think about what brands would be happy to get a deal with a U.K. club catalogue back in 1982.

I don't recognize the boxes. The mono does look a bit Sanyo tho. But I do recognize the Philips VR2021 VCC recorder! The first video-recorder in our home. Must be around 1981.

I considered making name the VCR a question but it is actually branded Pye so I doubt whether anyone outside the U.K. would get it.

    Hello .
I didn't find the one requested by @Longman
But I found these catalogs from 1930 to 2017 I think they are American and Canadian .. and I think they could be of interest

With 43GB of catalogues on the hard drive I probably have quite a few of those. People kept doing catalogue compilations and selling them as DVDs on eBay.

Back to the competition unlike Pye, I'm sure that everyone will know of the manufacturers that made the two Boomboxes.

I reckon the stereo boombox is a Sanyo M-X315L, & Cris got the other two correct?

    2. the stereo is indeed a SIEMENS RM781 CLUB 781
    3. the VCR is an aka of a Philips VR2021 :)

    We have a winner :ok
The catalogue doesn't give exact model numbers but
The mono box is some kind of Hitachi

The stereo box is a Sanyo

and the year was 1982. I wonder how many people got that from the Video2000 format VCR

@isolator42 P.M. me your address and I will send you the tape.

p.s. Looking at pictures I can see why @A O suggested the Siemens which appears to be an AKA of the Sanyo.

I don't think they imported any of those models here, maybe the Sanyo?
