    In 1969 BSR were exporting turntables from the U.K. to Japan via the Trans-Siberian railway !

    At one point BSR https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Birmingham_Sound_Reproducers
    had over 80% of the world market. Apparently the deck used in Crosley record players etc started out as a BSR design for a very low cost turntable.

    p.s. To me it always looks strange seeing exactly the same BSR deck in a Weltron 2007 as was in my parents cheap Fidelity record player.

    That is wild, my earliest Japanese Deck is a Sansui from the early 70's and they did a great job, not sure why they wanted the BSR except that the cost might have been really cheap.

    BSR's were everywhere here with similar installs to the Welltron and they all looked the same, a very basic, plasticy TT, the platter mat might be the only redemption.
