After 40 years of ownership I have just sold my Aiwa AD-F990.
For the new owner I had a FULL service completed prior to them purchasing.
Regrets YES. But is was an awesome bit of kit that I have owned since new.
The main reason for this that I wasn’t using it as much.
I have owned a Sony WM-D6C since new as well and this unit I absolutely love and use most nights.
So this is now my main unit for cassettes.

    Cheers Kiwinut

Including the service and only one first owner/full history, the new owner can enjoy it for many years to come!

Update new owner not happy says it not sounding right and he thinks it’s a problem with the pinch roller?( he thought that they hadn’t been replaced)
I had them replaced prior to selling. But I am working with him to get the problem fixed.
    He recons it sounds dull
Annoying as I sent it away to be great for the new owner.
Is there a chance the wrong roller was installed?

    Cheers Kiwinut.
Ps I kept the old ones they replaced

It's impossible to say for sure, for me it's more W&F or tapes not spooling correctly with a bad pinch roller.

I wonder if they're using a known good (current) tape recording? I'd also have them clean with IPA to make sure no lube or other stuff got on the heads.

When I was a young delivery boy in the 80's, the packages showed up crisp and clean, UPS was the standard, I think back then they wore white gloves. Fast forward to today and these guys have zero respect for what's inside and they throw around everything. It's no wonder Amazon packs a tiny box inside a huge box stuffed with bubble wrap.
