    I bought my first VCR on December 27th 1984 (the first day of the sales). Electronics retailer Lasky's were advertising Fisher top loading VCRs for £299 each. By the time I got there at 11:00AM they had sold out so I ended up buying a Mitsubishi for £340. About a months take home pay for me back then.
