Went out thrifting on my day off and was at savers,and in a box full of keyboards and TV remotes I found this for $6. I am a newbie when it comes to cassettes and players. I do know it's a clone but is it any good it does work perfectly.
Just another clone, a little more rare since it's from Korea. I've posted info from there in the early 80's, they were very proud to copy Japanese Products and manufacturing thinking they were the best. Most of the clones are pretty decent builds and they weren't cheap when new. A lot of these had different branding or logos, it depended on the buyer and seller. I used to see catalogs back in the 90's where you could buy pallets of boomboxes with any branding you wanted on them, the manufacturers were just random Asian Factories cranking out a ton of products.
That makes sense why I couldn't find anything about it when I searched online. Since the logos are just branding / advertising it would probably be impossible to find the actual manufacturer. Unless you take it apart.
There's a Korean Manufacturer's Website in one of my posts, it lists several of the larger audio players in Korea. LG, Samsung, Goldstar, Unitech and more were cranking them out. There's also Audio Pub https://audiopub-co-kr.translate.goog/2018/01/26/어떤-국산-빈티지-오디오-유니테크/?_x_tr_sl=ko&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en&_x_tr_pto=sc You might get lucky and find an "also known as" (AKA) that looks the same with different branding, at some point the name might be the original manufacturer.
Look for an FCC number (although that might only apply to radios). If you can find one you can look at a database to find the manufacturer.
Nice find, I especially like the very early portable cassette players in the bigger cases. Big and chunky. Miniaturization had just started.

to answer your question in post#1: they're very good units. definitive tough built. comparing a Cloneman to a Sony TPS-L2 is like comparing a 60'es american V8 to an italian V12. the Cloneman is the V8. those units weren't inovative at all, but solid and good sounding (if you had good earphones, not the crap that came with'em in the box mostly). using one of those got more the haptik of a late 70'es boombox... however, it's a never ending story
