An amazing recording Oz ..... How are you doing, old buddy? That is an exceptional Naka Dragon, what a good-looking deck you have in the snapshot. Music recording is also exceptional, one of Bach's 'Brandenburg Concertos'. That Dragon deck must be exceeding your expectations, eh? I recently had my Sybarito Dragon overhauled and rehabbed, its an extra sweet rig !!! Regards, KJ Bleus Parsons
Thank you KJ! Long time man! Yes I made that recording myself from streaming if you can believe that! If you have a great digital rig it comes out so well once on tape. But I am probably not telling you something that you didn't already know. So, this Dragon has been a bit of a project though I have to tell you. It's been almost a year and I still have a problem with it. It plays back beautifully but it still has issues from the record side. In fact, coincidentally I am bringing it back to the original tech in Tampa that did the work this coming weekend because I happen to be in town for something else. So I am bringing it over to see if they can work on it while I am in town for some hours. It appear the record head need to be aligned better so it is an azimuth problem. If I am very lucky the head tech at Adam's Electronics will adjust it before I leave the area. If not, then will have no choice but to leave it there and then I have to make another 4 hour trip (x 2) to go collect it. So with me luck! LOL
Good fortune to you getting the Dragon record head aligned and reaching optimal Naka specifications. The Dragon's record head always needs fine tuning with those original pro tech Nakamichi alignment measurement cassettes and supporting electronic gear are essential for good outcomes. Here's an excerpt from the tapeheads forums that explains the importance of the Naka Dragon's record head alignment parameters: https://www.tapeheads.net/threads/nakamichi-dragon-limitation.104124/#post-775700855 You can private email me if you'd like additional info on my Dragon deck & rehab adventures ..... The wild thing is I'm listening to it through my monitor's speakers, I have to believe they're tiny but they sound pretty good and the lack of bass helps. Sometimes my Xonar Essence cables lose a connection, I'd like to A/B my Klipch's with my monitor.
Thanks to both. You are very kind! Yeah I decided I am not going to have that same tech keep working on my Nak Dragon so off it will go to HiFiRulezzzz I think he goes by? (I may have misspelled his handle). He is 2 to 3 months out though so I must remain patient. @KJ Bleus Parsons I am about to post a couple of videos I did with my client's Technics RS-B755 tape deck that my tech just finished working on and I think it came out really great! Please lookout for it and let me know what you think! Best! Oz
