    my first homecomputer was a used VIC20 in 1983. all that stuff was pretty expensive in those days, not to compare with today.

    The Vic 20 was like the Atari 2600, it was everywhere here and super impressive. I remember walking into the computer/stereo shop and they had just gotten the brand new Vic 20 and they had a voice box, us little kids were blown away by the real talking computer. The Apple II was king for me, everyone had a copy of Locksmith and we were hacking disks all the time, when Ultima came out someone got everyone a copy. Personally I think that's why the Atari 2600 died so quickly, computer games were 10x better and you could do roll-playing games on them.
