Hey guys! I just got an Aiwa 557 but I see now safe way of reaching the belt. All screws are out but I see that I'm pulling the volume wheel and chewing gum battery door as well. The service Manual doesn't help much either. Would love to hear from someone with experience in these type of units. Thank you, M
I haven't worked on this model but I did find this online; http://audiopub.co.kr/2017/09/15/aiwa-px557-카세트-플레이어-벨트교환/ You'll probably need to use google translate (unless you can read Korean) but this appears to show a dodgy way of of changing the belt, I would never bend the PCB like that personally! Have you been able to take the back cover off? Usually you need to remove the gumstick battery cover (19) first, then close the hinged metal contact (13) and prise the back cover off from the battery cover end. Take it nice and slow, don't force anything. I agree, the service manual is pretty useless for disassembly!
