Aldi seem to get a Boombox (Squeakbox ?) in ready for Father's Day each year.
We discussed their last model a couple of years ago here

    http://stereo2go.com/forums/threads/upcoming-boomboxes.3256/

By around October they were down to £10 or £15 but based on the reviews I wasn't tempted.
Having said that the equivalent Sharp or Sanyo would have been about £40 or $50 back in the 1980s.

Yes, I think I watched the Techmoan review then. The styling on this year's offering is not bad though, wouldn't have looked out of place in the 80's.

It looks like a repop of a cheap model I gave to charity some time ago....

I'm going to Aldi some props, sure it's low end but it also has some cool features and for somebody new to the world of cassettes, it's a great way to get exposed to it. When we were young, this was the only way to record and it was exciting, now a days we're being recorded dozens of ways so it's not as neat of a feature but the USB and SD ports are. Unfortunately the big clunky piano keys that always meant entry-level aren't going away soon and it will define these reissues. It is pretty cool seeing these, the IONs, the GPOs and some of the others getting international releases with tape decks!

True! I still remember how it was the day I found my Crown SZ-11. Wasn't totally cool with it (Damn powder pink color) but wasn't totally cooled on it. And at $5.00 brand-new@K-Mart, how could I pass it up?
