I just saw a link to this, in an article about the NHS banning the purchase of new fax machines.

I hope people outside the UK can see the embedded videos as one even shows a Japanese collectors Walkman collection.

In some ways I can understand their point of view. For years Air Traffic control was run with printed paper strips in holders giving the details of each flight. As a air traffic controller explained the worst thing that could happen was that you drop them all on the floor and have to pick them up again. In contrast, faced with a blank screen, as O2 mobile customers in the UK were last week, you have no information at all.

I'm not sure if I believe this, the country that has a million versions of new tech still latches onto old tech? Hopefully I'll be over there soon, I'll give you a first hand account.....
