My house has turned into a boombox repair shop just because of one favor offered!. Our stereo2go member, Mr. Iskandar just can't stop sending me his boomboxes for fixing after I help to restored one of his beloved model JVC PC55 . My lady boss already sounded.. its a matter of time either the boombox or myself will be thrown out of the house. Nevertheless, its my pleasure to share with you one of Iskandar recent purchase PC 55 black version but only the main unit without speakers. This unit took me much effort to fix due to its run down condition, switching power supply not working and right side channel no output. The sound is soft and garbled, volume switch crackle and other teething problems. First I need to dust off and contact cleaned all the switches, push buttons, volume pots prior working on the real issues.
In order to troubleshoot the problems effectively, I have to teardown the unit up to circuit board level.
Checking on the power amp IC and re-solder every single pins due to dry solder for both the switching power supply and the power amp IC.
I can't believe how dirty that is, I posted that Pioneer RTR that was similar but they have huge vents on the back, I feel like it was growing in yours. Great work getting it back up and going, thanks for the photos.

Send her my regards... and condolences... my Boss will contact her soon... to commiserate I am working hard to get a compressor for the car tires and for an airbrush ((boy, soooo many minor things get burned when your house gets burned!)): there is an attachment to blow at 60psi all the dust off those old boards!!! and then they look like New
I've got a Makita Cordless Hand Blower that does a great job with the big fluffy stuff, then I might carefully use compressed air, I'll finish up with the Shop Vac and these micro attachments.
I have this one, it is GOOD! The only set which is better is a kit from Miele (but at a price!). But nothing beats hi-pressure pump for those pesky bboxes left in absolute disregard!
It fits better onto Miele vacuum ... But, seriously, the mini-brush is bigger, the hose is wider and the bristles are tougher so it pulls out more dust from around the knobs and buttons. I am trying NOT to vacuum the boards themselves, but to use hi-pressure air instead. Had a "fatal" accident 20+ years ago while vacuuming Pentium 386 boards: static killed it quietly and irreversibly!
