Hi everyone! I'm new to this forum and I would like to get some help with my Walkman. Here is the problem: I am restoring a Sony WM-55. I installed a new belt and when I push the play button, the motor runs and drives the belt correctly. But for some reason the hubs are not turning and he pinch roller goes up and down (you can hear a repetitive "click" noise). At some point, the play button pops up (just like when you arrive at the end of a tape). When I press the fast play (normal or reverse) there is no problem. The hubs are turning normaly. Little detail but I think it not linked: the red led light for battery doesn't work (i put new batteries for the test) I have a similar problem with my Sony WM-F57 too :/ I am sorry if someone already answer this problem, I didn't find anything on the forum. Thank you so much for those of you who could help Have a nice day!! Pierre
Hello! Update: I just installed a new belt in a different Sony WM-55 and I still have a similar problem. This time when I push the play button, the right hub turns right and then 2 seconds later the left hub turns left and it goes on and on, alternating between right and left... I checked with the instruction manual for the belt path and I think I installed them correctly, so I don't see what the problem could be... I can make a video to show you what is happening inside the walkman (you'll see all the parts moving). Does anyone succeed in replacing the belt in a WM-55 or a WM-F57? I know these are uncommon in Europe and America. (I bought them from Japan) I still have a 3rd WM-55 to restore but I'd like to know what's wrong before I do anything with this one... Am I the only one facing that problem ? Thank you, Pierre
