I bought a lot of Sony Walkman's around the period 1990 to 1993.
A lot of them came with headphones like this.
Only problem is the rubbery plastic surrounding the speaker parts turns to soft mush after 30 years and there is very little you can do to stop it. It still turns to mush if it was still in its original wrapper.
I suppose Sony's intention was to give the impression that it was higher quality plastic with a better tactile feel than normal.
Well it's not. Like their rubber belts, it sucks. I have had 5 similar headphones go the same way.
It's like a chemical reaction kicks off after 30 years.
