Does anyone know of any East German walkman clones or similar DDR personal stereos.

I'm a collector of vintage sony walkmans and a collector of East German surplus. I kinda want a piece that connects my 2 collections, but I've only seen Soviet made clones. If there is not any that exhist, no big deal, but just kinda a side project that's been on my mind.

    Hi there -

I don't know about exact clones. But for east german / gdr made stereos/walkman you might want to check out the RFT-brand.

The following page - http://www.rft-hifigeraete.de/9492.html - features some of them. The LCS 1010 was the first walkman to be designed and produced in eastern germany around 1989, followed by the second (and probably last) walkman "RFT LCS R 2010 Tramp".

As for personal stereos: I used to own a EAW Audio 145 - a small but decent 3-piece-boombox - and as far as i recall it was not that bad (as well as other things that were made in the gdr :wink2)
