Hi everyone. Interested to hear what your favourite in-ear earphones that are your favourites. Either the ones that came with your units or specific phones that you bought separately. The in-ear phones that I use all the time with my portable units( tape and mini-disc units are the Sony MDR-EX500LPthat I bought in 2008. Feed the units with a good recording on metal tape and the sound to my ears is sublime. I particularly love the sound using them with my Sony WM-EX616 with a little bass. The original gumstick battery that came with the unit still charges which gives me about 4 hours of payback. Not bad. So what are your favourite ear-buds that you use with your units?
I take it the thread isn't only about modern squishy in-ear ones which you stick inside your ear canal but also about classic earbuds which you embed in your ear cup? If it's just about the first I might not have any to name, I'm not very fond of sticking something into my ear canal to be honest, which is why I use "oldschool" earbuds. Apparently a dying species according to shops. My current go-to model are the Sennheiser MX 365 (in blue as they look well with my repainted MZ-R500). I got several pairs of them as backup and for different devices. I used the oddly shaped dark-grey discontinued Sennheiser MX 375 before but unfortunately they broke after I accidentally dropped them one time too often. It was the electronics inside, something got loose. The case didn't have any scratches. Initially I liked their sound balance a tad bit more than the MX 365, but perhaps I just got used to them before switching. By now I think overall the MX 365 might be better after all (if not for the noisy, hollow sounding cable when it hits something). These are especially great for my WM-2011 as the bass is solid even without any mega bass. Their balance is pretty good with mildly amped bass frequencies, not too much, but also not too little. Just the sweet spot for portables (without any mega bass) in my opinion. I also like the sound of the earbuds that came with the MZ-R30 MD-Walkman. The bass is slightly weaker than the MX 365, the overall sound is clear and very balanced. I use them with the WMD-DT1's remote and the MZ-R30's remote, depending on which one I use at the moment. I wonder if the WMD-DT1's version of those was merely a repaint with an identical sound, but I can't find them anywhere to verify (and buy). I seem to be of the rare kind as I always use cushions on any of them including the MZ-R30's as they muffle any extreme (and screechy) heights by just the right amount and add some depth to the bass. Also that way they are far more comfortable and sit better.
Am currently listening to the 615 with the EX-500. I just love these buds because of the snug, comfortable fit that dont fall out. Came with about 5 different bud sizes to try in a nice black carrying case. 13.5 drivers, 200mw power handling,inpedance16 ohms,5-25000Hz and gold l- shaped mini plug. Just love them. Thread covers any make,in ear phones. Have not tried many other makes because I love these so much. How did you re-oaint your unit?.
You appear to be asking about 2 different types here, IEM’s are different from ear-buds. I have both. For IEM i use Etymotic ER-4SR, for ear-buds i use Bang & Olufsen A8 and for hybrid IEM / ear-bud i use Audio Technica CKW1000ANV. Everyone of them sounds amazing for their category.
