At the beginning of the 80’s, I started to play in the University rock group on the keyboard. We had half-professional audio equipment, and, as we were future radio engineers, we converted an old tape recorder into an echo creator, a kind of reverb machine. We could only dream about the Dynacord EC 504 as it was completely unrealistic.

Furthermore, including high-quality components ensures longevity and consistent performance over time.

At the heart of the EC 504 lies its exceptional sound quality, characterized by the lush, organic tones reminiscent of classic tape delay units. The tape emulation circuitry faithfully reproduces the warmth and saturation inherent in analog tape, adding depth and dimension to the audio signal. Additionally, the reverb algorithm imparts a natural sense of space, enriching the sound with immersive reflections and decay. The EC 504 enhances the sonic landscape with its rich, textured sound, whether used subtly to add ambiance or dialed up for dramatic effect.

The EC 504 offers a comprehensive array of features that cater to the diverse needs of audio professionals. Key highlights include adjustable delay time and feedback controls, allowing for precise shaping of the delay effect. The tap tempo functionality further enhances usability, enabling users to synchronize the delay time with the tempo of the music effortlessly. Moreover, the unit features a dedicated reverb section with adjustable decay and mix parameters, providing flexibility in tailoring the reverberant characteristics to suit individual preferences. Additionally, the EC 504 offers mono and stereo operation modes, accommodating various setup configurations with ease.
Equipped with a range of connectivity options, the EC 504 seamlessly integrates into existing audio setups. Dual 1/4-inch input and output jacks facilitate straightforward connection to instruments, mixers, and other audio devices. Moreover, MIDI connectivity increases workflow productivity and opens new creative possibilities by enabling remote control and synchronization with external MIDI-enabled instruments.

I need to do a little more research into these tape delays, this is the first professional unit I've seen. You may have seen me mention that the reason the Marantz PMD Mono Portables seem to be going for decent money is that musicians are modding them for tape delay. Being a professional tape recorder, they have RCA in/out and other features to help monitor the signal.
